After leading Saturday’s practice session, Kyle Larson began Sunday’s 400 miler from the sixth position, led laps and scored a second-place finish.
The two-time Auto Club winner started 15th and was quickly into the top 10. However, he came down pit road prior to the competition caution (scheduled for after lap 15) due to a mechanical issue. Larson had been running eighth at the time.

Larson qualified 10th on Saturday, placing him third in heat race two on Sunday. The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion finished fourth in his heat, landing the 14th spot in the starting line-up for the main event.
