Larson, No. 5 team leave Austin with 29th-place finish after being collected in a late-race restart

Pit strategy and lightning-fast pit stops led to solid running positions for Kyle Larson in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series road course event at Circuit of The Americas before a late-race restart didn't go as planned that resulted in a 29th-place finish for the reigning champion. Larson and the No. 5 team left Austin, Texas 16th in the point standings after the first six races of the season.

With two laps to go in stage two while battling for the lead, Kyle Larson was involved in a multi-car accident. Damage to the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet ZL1 was too severe and Larson was forced to the garage, finishing 30th after completing only 212 of 325 laps. The reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion now sits 12th in the standings after five races.
