POMONA, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2022) – The first race of the 2022 season of NHRA's Camping World Drag Racing Series concluded in spectacular fashion for Pro Stock's most winning driver and reigning class champion Greg Anderson, but his accelerated heart rate didn't come from victory – it came from nearly losing control of his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro instead of advancing to the final.

After starting from the pole position, Larson finished ninth in both stage one and stage two before being collected in the multi-car accident with less than 10 laps to go in the 200-lap event. Although he was able to maneuver through two multi-car accidents in the DAYTONA 500 on Sunday, Kyle Larson could not miss a third one with nine laps to go and finished 32nd. The driver of the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet ZL1 and defending NASCAR Cup Series champion sits 26th in the standings after one race, 41 markers behind the leader.

Sunday’s event at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum began with four heat races to determine the starting lineup of the 23-car Clash field, a non-points event held for the first time on a temporary track inside the historic stadium. Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet ZL1, started second in the fourth heat and finished second in that 25-lap preliminary event – earning the eighth starting spot for the 150-lap Clash event.

(Nov. 14, 2021) – Greg Anderson came into the 2021 season of NHRA's Camping World Drag Racing Series with the weight of uncertainty upon his shoulders, but on Sunday afternoon at the season-ending Auto Club NHRA Finals, one thing was absolutely certain: Greg Anderson was the champion, for the fifth time in his historic Pro Stock career.

After two days of competition, Hendrick Motorsports engineer John Boydston and Hendrick Automotive Group technician Dave Frey from Hendrick BMW in Charlotte, N.C., took home the title in the 20th annual Randy Dorton Hendrick Engine Builder Showdown, presented by Valvoline. The duo clocked in a build time of 23 minutes and 9 seconds, beating out 11 other teams to win the showdown.

On Sunday at Phoenix Raceway, Kyle Larson led the final 28 laps to claim the victory and his first NASCAR Cup Series championship. Larson’s win at Phoenix marked his 10th points-paying win of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season. On lap 285, Larson entered pit road fourth but exited first after a lightning-fast pit stop by the No. 5 pit crew..

 

Las Vegas (Oct. 31, 2021) – Greg Anderson has shown the colors of a champion throughout the 2021 season, and in the rare moments when he hasn't been at peak performance, the most winning driver in the history of Pro Stock has had his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro to rely on. This weekend, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, it was Anderson's teammate who stepped up to knock out a competitor who is pulling out all the stops in an effort to defeat the four-time world champion.

Kyle Larson, who started first in the 500-lap race at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday, led the first 55 laps before being passed by Hendrick Motorsports teammate Chase Elliott. After fast work by the No. 5 HendrickCars.com pit crew during a lap-60 caution, Larson won the race off pit road and again paced the field to the restart. But he was passed by Elliott on lap 85 and trailed his teammate across the finish line when stage one ended at lap 130.

The 2021 season of NHRA's Camping World Drag Racing Series has already been one of the most memorable of Greg Anderson's career, and it isn't finished yet. This weekend, the driver who has held the points lead all season long in Pro Stock will venture to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to battle for a fifth world championship title.
