Teammates from our South Carolina dealerships were on hand to celebrate Military Appreciation Night at Patriots Point Soccer Stadium and honor military members of the Charleston, S.C. community.

Hendrick Volvo Cars of Charleston partnered with Charleston Battery and welcomed all active duty, reserve and military members and their families to watch them take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies match.

At halftime, Dan Zarrillo from Volvo Cars of Charleston, Steve Strickland from Hendrick Lexus Charleston and Jason Scott from Hendrick Toyota North Charleston met on the field and personally thanked the veterans for participating in Military Appreciation Night.

“First, Hendrick Charleston is thrilled to be supporting our veterans and members of our armed forces. We want to thank our veterans as you are the most important, and we are humbled by your service and sacrifice. Your servant hearts are why we are able to give back to the Charleston and North Charleston communities. As Mr. Rick Hendrick often says, ‘We’re not in the car business; we’re in the people business,’ said the trio of general managers.

“Lastly, we are honored to partner with our friends from the Lowcountry Veterans Home. We would like to thank Leslie Jackson, founder of the Lowcountry Veterans Home. We have worked together with Leslie to create meaningful experiences for our veterans at the Lowcountry Veterans Home. Thank you, Leslie for your incredible support. We are truly grateful to share this evening with you.”

Twelve of the veterans in attendance were from the Lowcountry Veterans Home – a home that provides transitional housing to nearly 300 U.S. military veterans a year in the Charleston area, offering food and transportation services while facilitating volunteer, educational and career opportunities through its community networks.

As a proud partner of the Lowcountry Veterans Home, Hendrick Automotive Group’s Charleston-based dealerships helped fund a major kitchen renovation for the deserving residents and hosted a barbeque to celebrate the completion of the “heart of the home” with food, fun and fellowship.

“After their 90-day stay, our teammates came together, donated items and physically moved veterans into their permanent housing locations. This partnership is about building longstanding relationships and bonds with veterans – those whom have sacrificed so much for us,” said Zarrillo.

Hendrick Automotive Group is committed to hiring our nation’s heroes. We’re looking for proven leaders who are ready to bring their dedication to teamwork, excellence and integrity to a fulfilling career in the automotive industry.
