Exploring Porsche's all-electric Macan and its high-performance features
A favorite among Porsche enthusiasts, the second-generation Macan is now fully electric.
Introduced to the United States in two variations, this is the brand’s first re-design since it launched in 2013. The Macan 4 and Macan Turbo are enthusiast’s dreams, with high horsepower, excellent handling, and 800-volts worth of quick-charge EV architecture at their core.

“We are taking the Macan to a completely new level – with exceptional E-Performance, the new Driver Experience, and a very impressive design,” said Oliver Blume, Chair, Executive Board of Porsche AG.
“With the all-electric Macan, we are presenting the first Porsche that we are taking electric from an established product identity,” said Michael Mauer, Vice President Style, Porsche. “The new Macan is recognizable by its brand identity as part of the Porsche product family. The classic Porsche proportions have been further developed and optimally adapted to the challenges of an electric vehicle. This has further heightened the sporty, modern and dynamic appearance of the Macan. The design makes it clear: the Macan remains the sports car in its segment, even in electric form.”
Powerful Options Abound
The 4 and Turbo have all-wheel-drive capability with an electric motor placed at each axle. At 402 horsepower, the Macan 4 is potent, while the top-end Turbo has a staggering 630 horsepower.
Receiving its power from a 95-kilowatt battery, it takes about 21 minutes to recharge from 10 percent to the suggested 80 percent at a direct current (DC) fast charging station. The Macan Electric has an estimated range of more than 300 miles.
Traditional to Porsche, its lower center of gravity gives each Macan more of a sports car feel. Air suspension and adaptive dampers are available at each trim line, while the Turbo has torque vectoring that electronically manages the rear drivetrain, affording an intuitive, dynamic driving experience. Since SUVs are traditionally heavier, Porsche engineers have added optional rear-wheel steering to help with tight maneuvers and better road stability.
On the Inside
In keeping with its environmentally friendly outlook, the Macan EV employs recycled materials throughout, which includes floor mats constructed with a re-constituted nylon material. The seats, upholstery and dashboard receive a synthetic vegan leather wrapping, adding to the vehicle’s earth-conscious appeal. Changeable ambient lighting throughout helps set the proper travel mood for passengers upon entry.
It is also practical and holds quite a bit of cargo, affording owners 46.5 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded, 18 inches of room behind the rear seats and an additional 2.9 feet of capacity at the front of the vehicle.
Central to the 2025 is the vehicle’s 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster, while its infotainment touchscreen comes in at 10.6 inches. An optional 10.9-inch display is also available for passengers to watch content while the vehicle is moving.
Another cool feature is the heads-up display that uses augmented reality to overlay information such as road navigation and speedometer readings. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Google applications enhance the vehicle’s overall entertainment value, with hands-free voice activation tying everything together.
Additional features include a 10-speaker audio system with the ability for an optional Bose upgrade, wireless device charging, dual-zone climate control and a keyless remote.
Porsche Focuses on Safety in the Macan Electric
There is quite a bit of safety built into the Macan EV, with features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, traction control and airbags throughout highlighting a bit of the technology.
Driver-assisted features are a big part of the mix as well, with items like blind-spot alert, collision warning, LED headlights, child safety anchors and electronic stability control also included. Night vision assist, 360-degree camera exposure and traffic sign recognition add a deeper level of driving comfort.
To be sure, the new Porsche Macan Electric will be on the wish list of many people upon each arrival at Hendrick Porsche and Porsche Southpoint.
