Just Arrived: 2024 Corvette E-Ray
The 2024 C8 Corvette E-Ray has arrived at Hendrick Chevrolet Hoover (Alabama)!
A first for the state of Alabama, VIN Retail No. 15 2024 Corvette E-Ray unloaded at the dealership to a round of excitement inside Hendrick Chevrolet Hoover, the No. 1 Corvette retailer in the state. Why is it special? It's Chevrolet’s first electric hybrid, all-wheel-drive offering for the “American Sports Car.”
With the local FOX affiliate on hand, Hoover police chief Nick Derzis drove the vehicle in for its public reveal. Arriving in “Stealth Mode,” those gathered enjoyed its debut, which included a brief start from its now famous 495-horsepower 6.2-liter V8.
“It was a lot of fun,” said Gary Nelson, who is the dealership’s Corvette specialist. “The E-Ray is a very different car with a lot of technology. It is also very fast.
“We are humbled to receive the first one delivered in the state of Alabama and I think enthusiasts will be very impressed with what Chevrolet built,” Nelson added. “It will remind many of the Z06.”
The E-Ray is a technological marvel. Available in both coupe and convertible, this Corvette boasts what’s called the e-AWD platform, which dynamically adjusts in real-time, providing the vehicle a front axle assist for maximum stability and balance. It’s a first-of-its-kind system for a production Corvette.
While the traditional Corvette V8 is still very present, so is the electric propulsion system. When combined, the E-Ray is a 655 horsepower performance monster, clicking off a manufacturer-stated 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds -- the quickest production Corvette in history. Oh, the quarter mile, an impressive 10.50 seconds at 130 mph. The car is very much in Z06 territory in both looks and performance. That’s not all.
The Ultimate Daily Driver
GM engineers also had another thought in mind for its newest Corvette -- the daily drive.
“This is what GM actually designed the E-Ray for - an all-season, all-country, road-tripping machine,” said Matt Farah in his Road & Track piece on the car. “And at this, it’s superb. It’s not only quicker than the Z06 in most measurements, but also it’s more fuel efficient than the standard Stingray.”
On the highway, the E-Ray gets a manufacturer-rated 24 mpg, 15 mpg around town, and a combined efficiency of 19 mpg.
Additional features include 1LZ, 2LZ and 3LZ trim lines, standard Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, fourth-generation Magnetic Ride Control and six, selectable driver modes: tour, sport, track, weather, My Mode and Z-Mode. Additionally, the E-Ray is also equipped with a Performance Traction Management system that adds five drive modes of enjoyment and surety.
Every E-Ray comes with a Michelin Run Flat tires and a staggered setup with 20-inch wheels in the front and 21-inch in the rear. The rears are 13 inches wide, one of the most optimized contact patches of any Corvette offered. That says a lot considering the car's incredible lineage. A notable item on the ZER package is that it exclusively comes with a summer tire package.
Entertainment and connectivity is there too. Chevrolet’s user-friendly, 8-inch full-color infotainment system comes with built-in Google support, personalized via easy-to-access apps that include podcasts, news, music, and Google Maps with real-time navigation and traffic updates. Wireless charging is also available in the 2LZ and 3LZ configurations.
Standard park assist, automatic emergency braking, following distance indicator, forward collision alert, lane-keep assist and lane departure warning highlight the E-Ray’s advanced safety features. An HD rear vision camera is standard on the 1LZ, while front and rear HDs are included with 2LZ and 3LZ models. The latter two also include a front curb view as well.
Safety items on the E-Ray include General Motor’s intellibeam headlights that seamlessly transition between low and high settings, automatically.

Much like a much more expensive hybrid supercar competition, the Corvette E-Ray gives enthusiasts an incredible performance machine that also affords good value for money.
That value has defined the Corvette since 1953 and the E-Ray continues that tradition.
