Scott Ennis, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Hendrick Automotive Group, was named the Charlotte Business Journal’s “CFO of the Year” award winner for the large, private company category.

Ennis leads a group of dedicated teammates and is responsible for finance, corporate and dealership accounting, internal audit, tax, treasury, financial planning and analysis, risk and franchise administration. He makes sure the overall financial health of the company is safe.

“I never thought about winning an award such as this,” Ennis said. “I want to thank Mr. (Rick) Hendrick for the terrific opportunities Hendrick Automotive Group has provided. I am so grateful to work with so many incredible teammates, and am proud to represent the company.”

Ennis, a licensed CPA, is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting.

The North Carolina resident first started at Hendrick Automotive Group in 1994 as an internal auditor. Ennis quickly moved into financial analysis in 1996, holding a variety of leadership positions before becoming director of corporate financial management in July 2011. His responsibilities included oversight of financial analysis and reporting, treasury management and banking relationships for the company.

Ennis was promoted to chief financial officer and senior vice president in 2018.

According to the CBJ, “CFO of the Year” recognizes local professionals with outstanding performance in their roles as senior financial leaders. Nominees must have had the title of chief financial officer (or equivalent) and be an exclusive, full-time employee with the company. The title must have been held for three or more years, although not with the same company.
