Popular paint scheme returns for Brickyard 400
This unique paint scheme will once again adorn the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro of driver Kyle Larson when the NASCAR Cup Series returns to the most famous oval in the world, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Sunday, July 21. This will be the first Brickyard 400 contested on the 2.5-mile oval since the Independence Day weekend race in 2020.
Back by popular demand, Larson’s No. 5 scheme will be similar to the one fans witnessed during this year’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway this past May.
"Fans were really excited for this design to run back in May, and I was too,” Larson said. “Justin (Allgaier) did a great job driving the car, but with all the build-up and merch and everything around it, I asked HendrickCars.com if we could run it this weekend at Indianapolis and give the fans a chance to see me drive it. Hendrick Motorsports History
In 1994, NASCAR Hall of Famer and Hendrick Motorsports star Jeff Gordon won the inaugural Brickyard 400 in dramatic fashion. Now the vice chairman of the Concord, North Carolina-based race team, and Hendrick Automotive Group dealership partner, Gordon went on to win the race five times – most in current series history – including the 20th anniversary race in 2014.

On the strength of Gordon, Hendrick Motorsports has won the race a record 10 times, more than any other NASCAR Cup Series organization. Wielding team cars, NASCAR Hall of Famer Jimmie Johnson captured Brickyard 400 glory four times, while Kasey Kahne also visited victory lane in 2017.
Larson has made six Brickyard 400 starts, grabbing three top-10 finishes. The California native scored a career-best fifth-place finish in 2016.
