Considering the incredible legacy of BMW's luxury, style, and performance, we don’t blame them; this is why we love seeing BMW try new things and embrace the future of the auto industry. In particular, the engineers at BMW are ready to deliver on the promise of what electric vehicles (EVs) can bring to the road.

If you’re looking for EVs for sale in Charlotte, then you owe it to yourself to check out the BMW EV lineup to see what’s on offer. These are some of the most powerful and exciting vehicles out there right now—but with so many to choose from, it can be tricky to focus on which models will work best for you. But don’t worry, we’re here to help, so let’s take a look at the EVs in the BMW lineup and see what each one brings to the road...

All-Electric Performance

To start, we’re going to check out the battery electric vehicles (BEVs) under BMW's belt. These are all-electric models with no traditional engines in them; instead, they’re powered by battery packs and motors. Don’t let that fool you, however, as these impressive models still deliver the incredible power and exhilarating handling we expect from BMW.

The i4 Gran Coupe

First up, we have the i4 Gran Coupe, which is a compact sedan with several impressive powertrain options designed to meet a range of needs. This is the smallest BEV in the BMW lineup, so keep it in mind if you want something compact and nimble to get you through the streets of Charlotte. The standard i4 has a single motor that delivers 282 hp, but you can choose from a more-powerful single-motor option or from a couple of dual-motor setups that boost performance all the way up to 536 hp with 586 lb-ft of instant torque. With up to 307 miles of estimated range from a full charge, this beauty is ready to take you anywhere you need to go.

The i5 Sedan

If you’re looking for something larger, then the BMW i5 is a terrific choice; it's based on the standard 5 Series, which makes it a sporty and luxurious midsize sedan. You can choose between either a single-motor or dual-motor setup; the single-motor model gets 335 hp and up to 295 miles of range from a full charge, while a dual-motor i5 gives you 593 hp and an estimated 256 miles of range. There’s no wrong choice here, as both models are an absolute joy to drive—plus, you get a stunning 14.9-inch infotainment display inside the i5 sedan. The i7 Sedan

Next up, the i7 is the largest car in BMW’s all-electric lineup; based on the standard 7 Series model, this is a full-size sedan with remarkable electrified performance. Like with the previous models we looked at, this one is available with either a single- or dual-motor configuration. The single-motor option gets you 449 hp and up to an estimated 321 miles of range, while a dual-motor M70 trim has a mind-blowing 660 hp while still enjoying up to 291 miles from a full charge.

The iX Midsize SUV

Finally, the iX is an all-electric sports activity vehicle from BMW, giving you incredible power and performance with the dimensions of a midsize SUV. This beauty is only available with a dual-motor setup, giving it electric all-wheel drive (eAWD) performance. The standard iX gets 516 hp and over 300 miles of range, while the M60 trim has 610 hp, 749 lb-ft of instant torque, and more than 290 miles of range.

Hybrid Performance

If you’re not ready to take a step into all-electric performance just yet but want something halfway between a traditional vehicle and a BEV, then a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is a great choice. These vehicles can be plugged into an external power source and provide a limited all-electric range, plus great overall fuel economy. BMW has you covered with four PHEV models to choose from, similar in some ways to their BEV lineup; this lets you consider a wide range of options and get the ideal vehicle with everything you’re looking for.

The 3 Series PHEV

Kicking things off, we have the 3 Series PHEV, also known as the BMW 330e, and it’s available with xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD). The 3 Series is a compact sedan, making it a terrific choice if you’re looking for something small to navigate the streets of Charlotte. It features a 2.0L Turbo I-4 engine with 288 hp and a 12-kWh battery that can go up to 22 miles without ever touching the gas tank. This is a luxurious and comfortable compact model that is incredibly fun to drive each day and on long road trips.

The 7 Series PHEV

Next up, we have the 7 Series PHEV—also known as the BMW 750e xDrive—which is a full-size sedan sharing a design with the standard BMW 7 Series models. If you are looking for a large and powerful car, then this is a terrific option thanks to its 3.0L Turbo I-6 PHEV powertrain that delivers 483 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. It’s a blast to drive, looks gorgeous, has incredible luxury and tech features inside, plus it can go an estimated 35 miles from a full charge without using gas.

The X5 PHEV

The first of two plug-in hybrid SUVs available from BMW, the X5 PHEV (or X5 xDrive50e) is a midsize SUV that shares a lot with other X5 Series models. There’s no denying how easy a great SUV can make your daily routine, which the X5 PHEV does beautifully while surrounding you with rich interior details and a sophisticated driving experience. This sleek ride is powered by a 3.0L Turbo I-6 PHEV powertrain that delivers 483 hp, with impressive AWD performance and up to 40 miles of all-electric range from a full charge.

The XM Midsize SUV

Finally, the XM is a performance-focused midsize PHEV SUV that looks fantastic and drives better than many other models in its class. You have two trims to choose from, though both are powered by a 4.4L Turbo V8 PHEV powertrain with a high-performance electric motor to boost power. The standard XM has 644 hp and the ability to go from zero to sixty in 4.1 seconds while enjoying about 30 miles of all-electric range. To take things to the next level, check out the XM Label, which has a 738-hp engine that makes it one of the most powerful BMWs ever built, and it goes from zero to sixty in just 3.6 seconds.
