Volkswagen Tiguan: An overachiever that does everything well

Volkswagen has traditionally offered value for money when it comes to its production vehicles. That is particularly true of the brand’s “overachiever,” the Tiguan.
It does everything well, including sell more than any other vehicle in VWs extensive lineup, and available among Hendrick Automotive Group’s Tiguan inventory.
For fans, the Tiguan offers plenty of options. It starts with five trim levels; S, SE, SE R-Line Black and SEL R-Line, each outfitted with the new IQ.DRIVE assistance technology, standard in every new Tiguan. Added features include rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rearview mirrors and a leatherette-trimmed steering wheel. Wireless charging, new media infotainment and wireless App-Connect are also available.
Volkswagen’s reliable 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine outputs at 184 horsepower and mated to an eight-speed transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard while all-wheel drive is also an option. Standard versions get 24 miles per gallon city/31 mpg highway, while AWD Tiguans’ offer 22/29 mpg, respectively.
“It’s hard to stand out in a crowd, but the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan strives to escape the genericism of the compact-crossover segment with reserved but tasteful sheet metal, sharp handling and European spirit,” wrote Car & Driver.
Four drive modes (snow, on-road, off-road and custom off-road) give the compact SUV quite a bit of terrain versatility. Custom off-roading mode allows drivers to set a combination of steering and AWD settings to their preference, while the snow setting reduces pedal response via earlier upshifts allowing it to gain traction during adverse conditions.
“The small SUV class is easily one of the most competitive among carmakers,” True Car wrote. “Standing out from the very crowded field is no easy feat, but the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan manages to make its mark. It's the only entrant from a European manufacturer and one of the few that offers a third row of seats. The result is an engaging driving experience with more flexibility than most other SUVs deliver.”
Premium Interior & Plenty of Technology
Volkswagen’s compact SUV is one of the few with optional third-row seating, although not an option on the AWD-outfitted Tiguan, which has two-additional inches of legroom between front and second row seating.
With the seats folded, two-row models offer 73.4 cubic feet of cargo capacity, while three-row versions give families 65.3 cubic feet of total capacity.

This special edition vehicle adds styling to the Tiguan SE (at a lower price point), including black trim throughout the exterior, silver mirror caps, chrome accents on the lower door and bumpers. A protective strip on the rear bumper protects the bumper against damage is also part of this package.
