Chevy Silverado's versatility makes it one of America's most-popular trucks
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado can be all things to all people. From a work truck or daily driver, to weekend recreational vehicle, the Silverado has a model and configuration that fits almost any lifestyle.
A new generation Silverado was introduced in 2022. Starting with the 2.7-liter TurboMax L3B (with new badging for 2024), it is a powerful, more efficient engine that outputs at 310 horsepower and 430 foot-pounds of torque. Also available for Silverado’s work truck editions, the TurboMax is the most cost-efficient, gas-powered offering of the group.
Other engine options include a 3.0-liter Inline 6-cylinder Turbo Diesel and two robust V8s a 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter, each with Dynamic Fuel Management systems. The 5.3-liter produces 355 horsepower at 383 foot-pounds of torque, while the 420-horsepower, 6.2-liter engine generates 460 foot-pounds of torque.
Advanced fuel management allows the Silverado to operate at maximum towing capacity, which transitions among 17-different operational patterns, pinpointing fuel and power band efficiencies with two, four, six and eight cylinder drive cycles.
At the top end, towing capacity can exceed 13,300 pounds with maximum available torque at 495-foot pounds. When combined, there are 15 different two and four-wheel-drive drivetrains -- all with towing power -- throughout the lineup to consider, along with available regular, double and crew cab options. Each based on a customer’s needs for the truck.

Each TurboMax entry comes with an eight-speed transmission, while the other models are offered with a 10-speed Allison transmission, which keeps the truck inside its power band longer by maintaining shift point efficiency. When matched with its 4x4 capabilities and a towing setup that is a category leader, you have a powerful combination.

The Silverado also has a history as a work truck. Bolstered by its load capacity, and supported by a roll-formed steel bed, 12 standard tie-downs, 89.1 cubic feet of standard cargo volume and 500 pounds per corner support, the Silverado is a class leader for every day usability. Add that in with an up-and-down power tailgate with six different flex functions, its the most versatile cargo bed in the marketplace.

Technology Plays
A 13.4-inch-diagonal high-definition infotainment touchscreen comes standard in LT trim and above, while Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with Google Built-In, highlight an impressive list of available technologies.
Remote engine start, remote keyless entry and a key fob smart device (subscription required) are some of the luxury features Chevrolet included with the Silverado. The available front dual-zone air conditioning, temperature control, heated bucket seats and heated steering wheel offers an extra bit of comfort. SiriusXM and Bluetooth connectivity are also included.
Safety in Abundance
Silverado’s come with an abundance of safety features. Automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, forward collision alert, following distance indicator and IntelliBeam are just a few of the driver assist and safety features included.
Front, side impact, overhead and seatbelt pre-tensioners help keep drivers and passengers safe, while an advanced security system with ignition disable prevent the engine from operating when the original key fob is not used.
Adaptive cruise control is also available, which automatically places distance between you and the traffic around you, reducing the need to manually brake and accelerate when you drive.

ZR2 Off-Roader
For those who love off-roading, the ZR2 Silverado is for you. Outfitted with the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine or the 6.2-liter V8, this package includes Multimatic DSSV dampers, where stylish off-road steel cut bumpers have a 33.5-degree allowance for obstacle approach.
Large underbody, aluminum skid plates, front-and-rear locking differentials and 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires with 18-inch aluminum wheels add to the truck’s impressive trail-running credentials.
The ZR2 also has a raised hood with styled Black insert, black chrome grille and a Chevrolet “flowtie” badge. The vehicle also includes high-intensity LED reflector headlamps, black bezels, LED curtain DRLs and white tracer animation.
