Jeep's classic Grand Cherokee has evolved into an entire line up of SUVs
There are few vehicles more iconic than the Jeep Grand Cherokee. While updated over the past 30 years, its classic style remains. Engineers have added an incredible amount of technology and variety in an award-winning package throughout the years, to make this one of the most attractive, full-size SUVs available.
By 2023, the Grand Cherokee has evolved to an entire line up of SUVs, including the three-row Grand Cherokee L, Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee 4xe. Built on entirely new architecture, the fifth-generation Grand Cherokee has an updated exterior design, interior amenities and passenger-centric technologies.
What is unique about Jeep is its connection with customers. A tradition that goes back more than 70 years, Jeep has built a huge enthusiast following throughout the world, especially with the amount of personalization that goes into every vehicle. In fact, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has the highest model-to-model loyalty in the full-size SUV segment, and there are more Grand Cherokees on the road than any other vehicle in the segment (more than 3 million).
Marissa Hunter, senior vice president, Stellantis North America spoke on this connection as part of the brand’s newest “Dents” advertising campaign.
“For our owners, their Jeep Grand Cherokee is much more than a mode of transportation, it is a member of their family playing a pivotal role in their own life journey,” Hunter said. “This emotional connection has been built and fortified over decades and now with the expanded lineup, we truly have something for everyone. In our film, as we usher in the electrified model, careful consideration is given to keeping traditions alive as the keys and the memories are passed down to the next generation.”
POWERFUL & CAPABLE
An all-aluminum, 3.6-liter V6 engine boasts 293 horsepower and 260-foot pounds of torque, featuring a smooth-running platform and cylinder heads integrated with exhaust manifolds. The engine helps it to tow a capacity of up to 6,200 pounds with a class-leading driving range of more than 500 miles.
As Hunter noted, the new 4xe is the brand’s step into electrification. With two electric motors, a 400-volt battery pack, combined with a 2.0-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine, this technology-rich version of the Grand Cherokee delivers 56-combined MPG and 25 miles on the electric motors.
Through its driver selected all-terrain system and eight-speed automatic gearbox, the advanced Grand Cherokee 4x4 system maximizes off-road performance. The platform coordinates a torque split, which electronically configures braking, handling, steering, suspension, throttle control, transmission shift, transfer case, traction, stability and ABS, which work together based on the terrain. Additionally, in highway driving conditions, front-wheel disconnect technology automatically switches the Cherokee into two-wheel drive mode when AWD is not required, reducing drag and improving fuel efficiency.
The overall driving dynamics are also impressive. Air suspension and semi-active drive dampening adjust shock settings, delivering expanded ground clearance and five different drive modes (auto, sport, rock, snow, mud/sand). Each specific to the terrain and load capacity being present in the moment.

Jeep Grand Cherokee is loaded with safety features, many of which focus on drivers and passengers.
