Hendrick Motors of Charlotte named one of Mercedes-Benz's "Best of the Best" dealerships for 2023

Hendrick Motors of Charlotte (North Carolina) recently earned Mercedes-Benz’s “Best of the Best” Award for 2023.

It is one of the brand’s most-prestigious recognitions given annually to its top 15% of dealership performers within its franchise network. It is a result of both customer service and operational excellence throughout the previous year. General Manager Tyler Johnson was thrilled when he first heard the news.

“The first thing that came to my mind is that it’s going to make Mr. Hendrick proud,” Tyler beamed. “It’s something we as a store strive for every single year. Just like being a Hendrick Champion (Hendrick Automotive Group’s most prestigious dealership performance award), we can say to Mr. Hendrick, ‘We are the best.’ It is extremely important to the store.

“We look at it all the time, tracking our progress,’ Johnson continued. “It is tough to win every year because (Mercedes-Benz) will change the metrics. If they are keeping score, we want to win.”


The "Best of the Best" is an annual award where Mercedes-Benz recognizes a franchise dealership that exhibits operations excellence in customer satisfaction scores, vehicle sales, service and parts. Metrics measured are daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. For Johnson, there’s little doubt what sets his dealership apart.

“It’s everything to get the people part right,” Johnson said. “When you get that right, when you have good people and give them an atmosphere where they enjoy coming here every day – they are going to smile and deliver a world-class experience. By creating a culture where we serve each other – awards are the byproduct.”

Nearly 50 Mercedes-Benz franchises receive this award, annually.
