NASCAR is back.

While the 2023 season officially kicks off in two weeks at Daytona International Speedway, Kyle Larson and the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet team are headed to the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to compete in the season-opening exhibition race this weekend.

The Clash, scheduled to receive the green flag this Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, is a 150-lap event that takes place inside the stadium on a quarter-mile oval with an abbreviated form of pit road in the infield. The starting lineup will be determined by four heat races that get underway Sunday at 5 p.m. Single car-qualifying on Saturday will determine the starting lineup for Sunday’s heat races.

Both the heat races and the main event will be broadcast live on FOX.

In last year’s inaugural race at the Coliseum, Larson started eighth and finished fifth.

“I thought last year was amazing,” said Larson. “NASCAR and everyone else involved did a great job building the track, making it proper for racing, creating excitement around the event and making it fun for fans. It was great to be a part of that historical event. I’m happy that we’re able to come back and put on another great show. I’m sure that it will be even better than the inaugural race was."

The Elk Grove, California, native and No. 5 team will don their blue HendrickCars.com firesuits, signifying Sunday’s showdown as an Away race for the automotive organization. Despite not having a dealership in the Los Angeles area, fans can shop for a new or pre-owned vehicle online at HendrickCars.com 24/7.

Larson begins his third consecutive full-time season driving the HendrickCars.com Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. He’s once again paired with crew chief Cliff Daniels as the duo look to add to their series-best total of 13 wins over the past two seasons and embark on a hunt for their second championship together.

“People always say control what you can control,” stated Daniels on his outlook for 2023. “The good news for us is there are things that we (the No. 5 team) can control to make a difference and be better. A lot of those things we got right in 2021. We know that it is within us. We have the capability and talent. Now we just need to put it together and come out of the gates strong in 2023 to run a solid season. I’m confident that we will."
