Keeping your vehicle cool throughout the summer

One of the most unpleasant things that summer brings are extremely hot vehicle interior temperatures.

Here at the HendrickCars.com blog, we wanted to offer a few tips to help you keep your car cool this summer.

PARK IN THE SHADE: When possible, find shady locations or covered parking to keep the harsh elements from your vehicle. Parking in the shade can significantly reduce the temperature inside your vehicle.

SUNSHADE: Place a sunshade or reflective windshield cover on your front windshield when parking. This helps block the sun's rays from entering the vehicle and keeps the interior cooler, along with protecting your interior against sun and heat damage.

CRACK YOUR WINDOWS: Leave your windows slightly cracked to allow hot air to escape and promote airflow. Be mindful of security and make sure the openings are small enough to prevent unauthorized access.

VENTILATION: Before entering your vehicle, roll down all the windows and open the doors for a few moments to allow hot air to escape. Then, once you start driving, turn on the air conditioning or set the ventilation system to the fresh air mode to circulate cool air.

COVERING: Use fabric or leather covers for your seats and a fabric cover for your steering wheel. This can help prevent direct contact with hot surfaces and make them more comfortable to touch.

MAINTAIN AIR CONDITIONING: Ensure your vehicle's air conditioning system is in good working condition. If it is not cooling properly, have it checked by a professional. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning or replacing the cabin air filter, is also important for optimal performance.

WINDSHIELD TINT: If allowed in your area and within legal limits, you can have your windshield tinted with a high-quality film designed to block UV rays and reduce heat transfer to the vehicle.

REMOTE START: If your vehicle has a remote start feature, use it to start the engine and activate the air conditioning system before entering the car. This allows the cabin to cool down before you get in.

PORTABLE FAN: Invest in a small, battery-operated or USB-powered portable fan you can use to circulate air inside your vehicle. Place strategically to improve airflow and enhance cooling.
