Chevrolet: A bright future born of innovation & partnership

National Bowtie Day means many things to many people. For the HendrickCars.com blog, it’s a day to celebrate one of our best partners – Chevrolet!
For others, the bowtie is a unique, decorative garment that actor Bill Murray or your favorite Instagram cat occasionally wear. Okay. Okay. Justin Timberlake, Hugh Jackman and Bill Nye also wear Bowties. Fashion statements all.
A Significant Brand is Born
Let’s talk shop. Louis Chevrolet. Race car driver and innovator. Founded Chevrolet Motor Car Company, Nov. 3, 1911 to help realize his true passion of building high-quality cars for “the people.” A tradition that continues to this day. The first model run, the Classic Six (also known as the Chevrolet Type C), left the original Detroit factory at the beginning of 1912 and one of America’s most important brands was born.
While the Model H and Model L continued the manufacturer’s early vehicle evolution and development, Chevrolet’s modern-day offerings fast-forward to the company’s most technologically advanced era in its history. From the budget-minded Bolt EV already in stock, to the upcoming Blazer and Silverado EVs, the brand has a come a long way in its more than 110-year history.
Meaningful Legacy
Chevrolet has also been very special to Hendrick Automotive Group leader Rick Hendrick. His first opportunity with the manufacturer came in 1976, when General Motors executives asked him to take over a chronically troubled Chevrolet store in Bennettsville, South Carolina.
At the time, he became the youngest Chevrolet dealer in the country. Soon, Hendrick turned it into the region’s most profitable, which led to an eventual opportunity at City Chevrolet in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1978. The tremendous success of City built a strong foundation and was a precursor to what is Hendrick Automotive Group today, which includes 15 Chevrolet franchises throughout the company. Many of you may know City from the 1990 hit movie “Days of Thunder,” as sponsor of up-and-coming driver Cole Trickle played by Hollywood star, Tom Cruise.
Chevrolet was also instrumental in helping Hendrick Motorsports get off the ground. Humbly started as All-Star Racing in 1984, the Concord, North Carolina-based team is now the premiere racing organization in NASCAR highlighted by 14 Cup Series championships and more wins than any other team in history. Chevrolet is by the team’s side every step of the way.

The Bolt is Chevrolet’s economy priced electric vehicle option. Tried & True Silverado Becomes Incredible EV
Chevrolet knocked it out of the park when it approached its new Silverado EV. At an estimated 785-foot pound of torque and 754 horsepower, the all-new Silverado EV can tow up to 10,000 pounds. Going 0-60 mpg in 4.5 seconds, this state-of-the-art pickup has an estimated 400 miles of range.
The Silverado’s Ultium home accessory charging unit creates the ultimate efficiency platform, moving power between your home and Silverado, making sure your lights remain on in your house for up to 21 days.
Technology abounds in the Silverado EV, including four-wheel steering, allowing the truck to maneuver in tight places with tremendous ease. Under hood storage and 24-inch aluminum wheels, a multi-flex, mid-gate and fully protected load floor make this EV both attractive and versatile.
As the Silverado transitions to electric, it remains one of the market’s most-flexible trucks.
These EVs and many others are among the new and pre-owned vehicles eligible for Hendrick Automotive Group’s “No Payments for 90 Days” sales event.
