Keep your convertible top looking great with these five tips
It is convertible season!
Yes, the sun is a bit brighter, the air is a bit warmer and your car’s top has enclosed the driving experience for WAY TOO LONG. Now that we have moved our clocks forward and the trees have started to bloom, it is time to once again enjoy the fun that is open-top motoring.
However, having a soft-top convertible vehicle requires a little more love and care than traditional hardtop versions. Below are a few tips to ensure your convertible remains in amazing condition.

CLEAN REGULARLY: Like your vehicle, it’s important to regularly clean your convertible top. Start with a soft brush and sponge, mild soap and water to wash away any accumulated debris. This is particularly important if you have not attended to your top over the winter months. Be sure to rinse thoroughly and let it dry COMPLETELY before lowering.
PROTECT: You may already do this, but locating a shady spot to park your convertible is a good idea throughout the summer months. We would also suggest parking in a garage or covered storage area, not only during the summer months, but throughout the snow, sleet and ice of winter as well. Weather elements can hasten the deterioration of a soft top.
CORRECT PRODUCTS: When protecting your top, use products that help repel water and stains. Avoid using harsh chemicals, as they can damage the fabric or the waterproof coating. Be sure to consult with your vehicle’s user manual for the best guidance.

INSPECT: Regularly inspect your convertible top for signs of damage such as stains, tears, fraying or fading. Repair any damage as soon as possible to prevent it from becoming a much larger issue down the road.
KEEP IT DRY: This may be the most difficult to remember if you are ever in a hurry. But never put the top down when it’s wet or damp, as it can allow mold and mildew to grow within the fabric. Always make sure it’s completely dry before retracting.
