There is no doubt that Greg Anderson has a racecar that can perform. In eliminations on Sunday at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, the HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro was pleasingly efficient. Although Anderson and the KB Racing team were unable to parlay performance into victory, they are well aware that they’re on the right path.

Qualified in the No. 4 position, Anderson claimed three bonus points in qualifying with one of the quickest cars on the property. In the first round of eliminations, his 6.620-second pass at 204.63 mph was second quickest of the round, allowing him to eliminate Chris McGaha’s 6.665, 206.13.

His day came to an end, however, in the second round. The HendrickCars.com Chevrolet powered to a low-of-the-round 6.616, 204.29, but Deric Kramer’s KB Racing-powered Chevrolet reached the finish line first as a 6.658, 207.11 flashed on the scoreboard.

“I’m disappointed,” said Anderson. “We were really hoping that the positive performance that we had in qualifying would turn into a win on Sunday, but that did not happen.”

Anderson will next race at the NHRA Mile-High Nationals near Denver, a race that he has won four times, despite the incredibly tricky conditions at the facility that sits 5,800 feet above sea level. The factory hot rods crave air, and there isn’t much of it to spare at Bandimere Speedway.

“It’s a challenge up there, but it’s one that we know how to rise to,” said Anderson. “We’ve got a few weeks off before then, and we’ll be working on what we have before it’s time to go out for the three-race Western Swing. I think it’ll be good for us, it’ll be a reset, and I really believe that the next win is coming. It may not happen in Denver, but it’s going to happen.”

The next race on the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series schedule will take place July 15 – 17 at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado for the NHRA Mile-High Nationals.

Anderson maintains the fifth spot in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Pro Stock standings and sits 355 markers behind points leaders Erica Enders after Race No. 8 of 18 of the 2022 season.
