There was a tremendous showing of power for Greg Anderson and his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet at this weekend's NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, and although the power was not enough to propel him to victory on Sunday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the reigning NHRA Pro Stock world champion sees a change for the positive coming.

Anderson's Chevrolet was immediately impressive as he launched into qualifying on a 6.667-second pass at 205 mph to jump right into the No. 2 spot and claim a pair of bonus qualifying points. Friday's afternoon session was the platform for his quickest and fastest pass of the weekend, a low-of-the-round 6.651, 205. Saturday brought about two more exceptional passes with a 6.656 – again low of the round – and a 6.677 for third-best of the session.

In Sunday’s finals, Anderson's .042-second reaction time was eclipsed by the .002 and .014 of Kyle Koretsky and Mason McGaha, respectively. The two drivers advanced, while Anderson's quicker 6.679-second pass at 204.91 was negated.

"We had a tough day today, it was certainly not the day we wanted, nor was it the day this HendrickCars.com Chevrolet deserved," said No. 2 qualifier Anderson, who made the quickest pass of his quad but could not overcome a starting-line disadvantage.

"But you have to take the positive with the negative, and the positive was that we absolutely saw a turnaround with our car," Anderson continued. "It was a rough start to the year for us – those first three races were not exactly what we had hoped for after a long winter of working very hard and coming off of a season like we had in 2021. But this weekend, we saw a little bit of a return to what we had before. I'm looking forward to the next race."

After Race No. 5 of 18, Anderson is tied for sixth in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Pro Stock standings, 136 markers behind current leader Aaron Stanfield.

The next Pro Stock race on the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series tour will be the NHRA SpringNationals at Houston Raceway Park and will take place April 22-24.
