Kyle Larson started 12th in the Talladega 500 on Sunday. However, he reported high engine water temperatures on lap one and brought the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet to the attention of the No. 5 crew one lap later. After the engine water cooled, the crew sent Larson back on track but the damage to the engine was terminal and he completed only three laps in the 188-lap event.

“It was hot coming to the green, but I thought once we got up to speed it would cool down – but it didn’t.”
